Where It all started

Saying goodbye to back-to-back job losses in 2022, I made a pact with myself: No more bosses, no more 9-5. I was ready to reclaim my freedom, eager to carve out my own path where asking for time off was a thing of the past. Deep down, I felt destined for something extraordinary—far beyond the mundane I'd known. Armed with unwavering resolve, I turned to the limitless world of the internet and began my quest.

Stepping into the online world felt as intense and exciting as a crowded Toronto city center on a hot summer Friday. I was on a mission to shape my future and met a successful drop shipping expert, who ruled the e-commerce space. She made me realize that I wasn't just capable of thriving in this field—it was my calling. She shone a light on my path with a course that showed me how to build an e-commerce business. I soaked in her advice and started my drop shipping store, soaking up knowledge along the way. The high point of my adventure was finding an excellent wholesaler that matched my style and delivered to Canada. As I selected fashionable items and designed my online shop, the thrill of making my dream a reality was unmatched.

Crafting my sunny season selection was just the beginning. Next, I dived into the digital showcase, lighting up Instagram and TikTok with daily doses of my curated treasures. Each minute was a thrill, a buzz I rode while eagerly eyeing the next vibrant finds for my clientele.

Life was bliss in full bloom, a harmony of fun and flourishing sales. But then, the unexpected happened, shifting everything.

"The only way you Fail is if you quit"

Just one month into my drop-shipping business, I faced a major problem. Customers were furious about unexpected duty fees on their orders, which I was clueless about. I had wrongly assumed my U.S. supplier would avoid these costs, not realizing the origin of the clothes would cause financial trouble. With a tight budget already strained by my new store, I couldn’t stand to see my customers paying more. I tried finding a solution everywhere but couldn’t. Sadly, I had to close my shop, but I haven’t given up. I’m determined to find a better way.

When my business failed and I was left penniless, I reached a critical point where I needed to rethink my career. With bills piling up, I quickly started looking for a job. Luck was on my side when I performed well in an interview at a fashionable salon, which boosted my spirits. But then I was reminded that appearance is important at some workplaces; my grey hair and petite stature didn't meet their standards.

Searching for a job in 2023's competitive landscape was daunting, especially as a 44-year-old breadwinner. Nevertheless, I persisted, combing through online job postings until at last, I discovered the ideal job I had been searching for.
